Walton-on-the-Naze is a small Essex seaside town where ageing flat roofs on bungalows and chalets take a serious battering from North Sea winds and salt air.
Much of Walton's housing stock dates from the interwar and early post-war periods, when bungalows and modest chalets were built to serve the holiday and retirement market along the Essex coast. Flat-roofed extensions and sun-room additions are common, and many carry original felt systems that have long since perished. Properties close to the clifftop and the Naze itself face accelerated weathering, making material choice critical - we fit EPDM and GRP systems here rather than felt for any new installation, as both withstand coastal UV exposure and wind uplift far better.
We cover Walton, Frinton-on-Sea and the Tendring coast as part of our regular work area. If your chalet bungalow or extended terrace has a flat roof that is leaking or visibly deteriorating, call us to arrange a free roof survey at a time that suits you.
